There are significant differences between stainless steel handmade sinks and press sinks, and these differences are mainly reflected in the production process, materials, appearance, durability and price. The following is a detailed analysis of these differences:

1. Manufacture process:
  • Handmade stainless steel sink - the core of production is bending and welding. The manufacturing process is a little more complex than pressed sink, including laser shaping, bending, welding, grinding, sand-pushing, spraying and packaging.

These steps ensure the high quality and fineness of the sink.

  • Pressed sink, also known as drawn sink. The production process is relatively simple, mainly through machine pressing. The manufacturing process comprises the steps of plate shearing, pressing and forming, edge shearing, spraying, packaging etc.,.

The handmade stainless steel sink is free out of molds(refer to simple models like undermount sinks or sinks with flat edge), it is easier to customize the overall size and bowl size. But the pressed sink is limited by the mold. Once the pressing mold is done, the sizes and looking is fixed. Any changes on the pressed sink, no matter how small it might be, will require the modification on the mold.

2. Material:

The two main types of stainless steel for sinks are 201 and 304, which can be used on both handmade or pressed sink. 304 material is used more for handmade sinks before. However, with the intensification of market competition,201 material is used more frequently because of its price advantage.

3. Appearance:
  • Handmade kitchen sink: It expresses a sense of good quality and beauty, because of its deeper bowl, and its more refined corners and lines.

  • Pressed sink: It looks shallow at the bowl ,and the radius of the corner is generally greater than 25 degrees.(≥R25)

4. Durability:
  • Handmade kitchen sink : Its processing method determines that it needs to use thicker materials, so it is usually more durable and less prone to problems such as perforation or cracking.

  • Pressed sink: the product is relatively thin and light, generally ranging from 0.35 ~ 0.8mm, which affects its durability.

5. Price:

The thicker, the more expensive. It is a truth for all of the hardware products, not just for stainless steel sinks. There is no doubt that handmade sinks are much more expensive than pressed sinks.Quality or price is a matter of choosing one of two, normally you can not enjoy both.

In sum, both handmade and pressed sinks have their own advantages, please choose the type of sinks according to your needs.
